Book Blogging for a Decentralized Web

Not long ago I discovered Neocities, a static web host that is preserving the unrestrained creativity and community spirit of the older internet—a magical time when digital monopolies and their algorithms and influencers were nonexistent. People (mostly geeks, academics, and hobbyists) did what they did for fun. They weren’t pressured by big companies to monetize their creations or themselves. Not that there’s anything wrong with monetization. People have to eat. But the internet is not that special place it used to be.
